Outlet barcos: Noticias y actualidad : A former figure skater and finance worker, Collin Thompson turned to footwear design after a move from his native Canada to LA (and back again) before finally settling in Hong Kong in 2003. Initially drawn to the city by his love for Wong Kar Wai films, Thompson was anxious for a line of work that gave him an outlet for creativity with immediate output. Shortly after, he founded the lifestyle brand Cipher and hasn't looked back since. While Thompson used to be a regular in Hong Kong's party scene, he admits he's mellowed out significantly and so offers up a chilled-out, ideal weekend.
I go to Barista Jam (126-128 Jervois St, Sheung Wan) right at the beginning of the day and for my afternoon coffee after lunch. In the evening, my friends put on an event at Fly (G/F, 24-30 Ice House St, Central) called The Scene That Celebrates Itself. They play new wave, 80s rock, The Smiths, stuff like that. That's our kind of thing. For the last three years they've been doing it, I think I've only missed one. They put on a really great show.
It would always start off with after-work drinks. 001 (Graham St, near 99 Sense), conceptually, is probably the best place for drinks and light snacks before or after dinner, if you can find it. The grilled cheese sandwich is [best] bar none it deserves a Michelin star. A place we've been going to lately for food is called Blue Smoke (3/F, 15-16 Lan Kwai Fong, Central). It's kind of like American-style comfort food. Whenever musical acts come to Hong Kong, we definitely try to keep our eye out for that. The last group we saw was Yelle I've been a fan of hers for a long time. We'd have after-concert drinks at Barco Bar (G/F, 42 Staunton St, Soho). There are a lot of people who go there just 'cos it's really casual and it's easy, and it's close to everyone's house. We all stop off there before we have to go home.
On an ideal Saturday, I should be doing anahata yoga but usually I sleep in till about 10.30am. Then we'd go to the pool at the Grand Hyatt (1 Harbour Rd, Wan Chai). You can get a spa pass to access the pool. We'd go, swim, then we'd have lunch by the pool. After that, my girlfriend would probably go to the spa and I'd probably read a book. Then we'd go to Isola (3/F, IFC Mall, Central) for dinner. You can be on the balcony and see the skyline of the city. They make really, really good Italian food. Their beef carpaccio is excellent. Then we'd definitely go see a movie at the Palace IFC (Podium Level 1, IFC Mall, Central). I've been hoping to see Midnight in Paris a Woody Allen film but it hasn't come here yet. I'm a huge fan of Woody Allen. After the movie, if it's not too late, we'd go to a place like The Blck Brd (6/F, No 8 Lyndhurst Terrace). The rooftop is a great place to meet up with friends and have a casual drink. After this, we wo uld go to see something at Volar (38-44 D'Aguilar St, Central) if it's on really late, like Keys 'n' Krates they weren't on until 3am.
